Is anyone else offended by uggs?

in 6 grade i didn't realize how gross they were. many people think wearing things such as a fur coat is wrong and will never buy them. but a lot of people who say buy the shoes uggs. uggs are animal. they are dead sheep on your feet. taking a sheep's wool does not hurt the seep but stripping off it;s skin means you would have to kill the poor animal.





now i am 15, vegetarian and see this mass production of ugg boots. i sort of feel like puking when i see people wearing them. i mean it really does make me feel sick. my mom thinks they are cute but she will only wear fake one's from payless. i think the fake ones are just as nice as really uggs. they are as, comfy and stylish (they look the same). well in my opinion uggs are ugly, but people have their own opinion.





i just want to know how many people don't like them on this site because i always see "what uggs should i get??????" and it makes me really sad because so many animals are being killed for some mass production of boots.

Is anyone else offended by uggs?

i see tooooo many girls wear em. i wish they just knew how the fur on their boots even got there, but they dont care unfortunately.

People think uggs are the only thing you kill an animal to get. now i know you said you are a vegetarian, but tons and tons of people eat meat every day. That kills animal. People who wear leather jackets, shoes,etc, those come from animals. I think real uggs are much cuter (and comfier) than the fake ones. Plus in 8th grade, its embarassing to wear fakes. So sorry to say, but I truthfully can say that I am not offended by uggs.
Reply:I doesn't bother me because I don't care what people wear. You shouldn't care either. Trust me you will see lots of UGGS. I can't say I'm for them or against them. I do feel bad for the sheep though, although pretty much every animal dies for food or clothing... GOOD LUCK!

If you think eating animals if wrong then do you think the people that eat animals are wrong too?

Also I think that if people like them and want to buy them then good for them. If people hate them then just don't buy them. Theres nothing you can do to get the world to stop wearing UGGS (or become a vegetarian)!

Reply:I agree with you for the most part. REAL UGGs are made of sheep skin like you've said. It does seem quite terrible...people refuse to wear fur, but will wear skin. However, these sheep are being put to other good uses, not just to make UGGs. They supply their wool to make clothing and their meat for food. Unless these sheep are being killed inhumanely I see nothing wrong with it. They are here to supply us, and none of their body is being put to waste. I do believe also, that if a sheep is going to die in the name of fashion, it should be supplied to a different brand that actually makes half decent looking products.
Reply:i know what you mean, in 7th grade i did a study on what really happens to animals that are used in the coat and fashion industry, and the food industry as well, and its just horrible, they are stripped while still conscious, kept in too tight cages swimming in their own fecal matter, its disgusting...





uggs do not necessarily offend me, but i certainly would never wear them (seeing as for one i think they look hideous), and also it certainly isnt fair that innocent animals are being slaughtered just for a "fashion statement"

A lot of people eat sheep, just like we eat cows and lambs, why let the skin go to waste????





Does that mean buying leather or lambskin is gross???
